Flower Description
Native late spring and summer wildflower
2 to 3 lower stem leaves, stalked, with a center curved, wedge-shaped leaflet that is heavily veined
Flowers are greenish or white and 3/4 to 1 1/2 inch wide (5 sepals that look like petals)
Fruiting thimble is 3/4 to 1 inch long and persists through winter, creating a puff of seed carrying hairs.
Rocky woods and banks
Plant is 2-3 feet tall
Similar but showier Canada Anemone colonizes and has stalkless leaflets under the flower stalk.
Wood Anemone is similar but shorter and flower is showier. It also colonizes.
