Early Spring bloomer, Native.
Drooping greenish white terminal flower cluster with sepals but no petals on long stalks. Male flowers with showy yellow stamens and female flowers with purplish pistils are on different plants. Individual flowers are only 1/4 inch long.
Produces an ovoid, ribbed seed capsule.
Leaves on long stalks with 3-4 roundish, lobed segments 1/2 to 2 inches wide. As they emerge in a whirl, the leaves have a purplish tinge.
Plant grows quickly and is 8-30 inches tall when blooming. Grows in rich woods.
