Flower Description
Most common Michigan Goldenrod
- Central Stem 2-6′ with lines of white hairs
- Alternate lanceolate to linear leaves 4-6″ long x 1″ wide, with small teeth, smaller at top of stem, pubescent
- Several flowering stems at top of plant
- Flowerheads less than 1/4″ across, on upper part of flower stem
- Bloom late summer to fall, about 3 weeks
- Often in colonies
- Characterized by insect galls on stem
Confused with:
- Tall Goldenrod (some consider this a species of Canada Goldenrod)
- Late or Giant Goldenrod
- Early Goldenrod
